Nachi-Fujikoshi has launched a newly developed material, "FM ALLOY," that has improved heat-resistance and strength. They will explore its market potential in automobile and aircraft components as well as electronic and precision equipments. The newly-built plant equipped with a special melting furnace on the Higashi Toyama Plant premises lays out the foundation for mass production system. The company's material business aims for 27 billion yen in sales, or to increase by 80% on the current sales by 2010.

"We saw an increase in the shipment of industrial robots in the 2005 to 2006 fiscal year and we are expecting to see a 2% to 5% year on year increase in the 2007 to 2008 term. It is not an unrealistic dream for the industrial robot sector to achieve the one trillion yen market by 2010. The demand for robots that can reduce the need for manpower is quite large. What we need is to be flexible enough to satisfy all kinds of demands. We must be able to create new customers among the construction and industrial machinery and component makers, as well as in the automobile, electric and electronics industries."

- Expansion of plant
In Nachi Tohoku Seiko in Yamagata City, a 5,320 square-meter annex was built to meet the increased demands for hydraulic equipment (rotary center joints) for small-size construction machines. The monthly productivity will increase to 420 units from 320 units due to a newly built integrated production line. The company plans to make more capital investment to reach a monthly production of 5,000 units by 2008. The Yamagata Business Office will be opened on the plant premises to strengthen the sales structure in the Tohoku region. Nachi-Fujikoshi is considering to build an engineering center in the region that will be engaged in robot maintenance work, re-grinding of tools and other relevant services.

- Toyama Techno-Fair
"Toyama Techno-Fair" hosted by the Toyama Prefectural Machinery and Electronics Industries Association chaired by Mr. Kensuke Imura will be held at Toyama City Techno Hall for three days from September 27. A record number of 254 companies mainly in the engineering and metalworking industry, electric and electronics industry and their related companies will exhibit state-of-the-art products, machine tools and other products. During the fair, the Toyama Measuring Tool Exhibition and Robot Exhibition will be held at the same venue.

The Association celebrated its 60th anniversary on September 6th, in the Meitetsu Hotel in Toyama City with 370 guests attending the celebration. Professor Isao Endo of Waseda University lectured under the theme of "Persistent Management and Job Site Power." Afterwards, Mr. Ryuichi Ishii, the Governor of Toyama Prefecture, and Mr. Imura, chairperson of the association, joined him for the panel discussion.

- NACHI-FUJIKOSHI plans to increase the use of the port at Fushiki-Toyama Bay (covering Takaoka City, Imizu City and Toyama City of Toyama Prefecture) that is closer to the company's core production bases, to around 20% from the current 3% to 4% in two or three years time. So far, most of the company's products have been shipped from Nagoya and Yokohama ports. But, due to the recent improvements in the maritime transportation network of Fushiki-Toyama Bay, the company's products will be shipped from the local. By using the local port, NACHI-FUJIKOSHI aims to improve the efficiency of its overseas distribution mainly for China, South Korea and Southeast Asia, so that it will be able to lower surface transportation costs and CO2 emissions.

The business contact counters of NACHI-FUJIKOSHI and Nachi-Tokiwa were unified. Nachi-Tokiwa is a trading firm, specializing in machinery, that was purchased by NACHI-FUJIKOSHI in June to become its subsidiary. As a result of higher efficiency in the domestic business operations, some personnel were shifted from the domestic to international business sector. This will strengthen overseas business operations while establishing a new business site in Yamagata to meet the expanded demand in the Tohoku area.

- NACHI-FUJIKOSHI built a new parts-processing plant for machine tools on their business site located in Nagaresugi, Toyama City. The land area for the new plant is 9,000 square meters. The new plant will begin operating in September with 70 employees and workers. With this new plant, the company aims to increase by 40% its key parts processing capability. The new plant will process major machine tool parts and components including drilling bases and spindles for grinding metal by rotating the tool. The company aims to increase in-house parts production to 80% from the current 50% to improve machine tool production efficiency.

- NACHI-FUJIKOSHI strengthens its Japan support system for industrial robots by starting a 24/7 paid hot line service for customers requiring help with their robots. The company plans to increase the sales of robot-related support services in Japan to 8 billion yen in fiscal 2010, double that of fiscal 2006.

- NACHI-FUJIKOSHI launched two high-speed steel drills, the "AG-ES Drill" and the "AG-ESS Drill." The addition of new coating material and the high-speed steel has made high-speed drilling as efficient as carbide drills with speeds1.4 times faster than conventional high-speed steel drills. NACHI-FUJIKOSHI aims to sell 500 million yen worth during fiscal 2008.

- NACHI-FUJIKOSHI in cooperation with the Tohoku University completed development of the manufacturing process of ultra-fine wire having the world highest ductility and hardness. It is now possible to produce ultra-fine wire having diameters between 0.05 and 0.5 mm. The wire will be commercialized as the "CDC Process Micron Hard" series to be applied over a wide range of areas including electronics and medical equipment.

- The consolidated settlement of accounts of NACHI-FUJIKOSHI by the end of November (for the fiscal period from December 2005 to November 2006) continued to increase for the past four quarters, resulting in record high sales profits.
Among various reasons that attributed to this increase, sales orders for automobile industries remained at high levels and industrial machinery business for construction and airplanes had also increased. The end-of-term dividend increased by one yen to eight yen.

- NACHI-FUJIKOSHI increased production of hydraulic motors for small-size construction machinery by 60%. They introduced an efficient production system in a new plant constructed in their Namerikawa establishment. This production system uses 60 robots designed and produced in-house that can transfer parts. With the monthly production capacity of the plant set at 16,000 units, they are aiming to increase the sales of hydraulic machinery by 40% to 50 billion yen by 2010.

- NACHI-FUJIKOSHI estimates that its consolidated business profits by the end of November 2007 will be 15 billion yen, a 6% increase from the previous term. Tools and high-performance components for industrial machinery are continuing to do well, leading to profits for the company. It will be the third consecutive year to reach record profits. NACHI-FUJIKOSHI continues to maintain high capital investments in the current term.

- Nachi-Fujikosi began sales of the ultra-hard mechanical drill, "AQUA Drill Three Flutes with End-Cutting Teeth" for drilling cast holes in steel or aluminum plates. The three-flute balanced cutting controls vibration during drilling. Compared with reaming, the finish surface precision is greatly improved including hole diameter and roundness accuracy. Nine drills are available with different cutting teeth, ranging between 3 and 12 mm. NACHI-FUJIKOSHI aims for 100 million yen worth of sales during 2007 fiscal year.

- For the fiscal year ending November 2006, NACHI-FUJIKOSHI's dividend will be eight yen. This is the third consecutive year that the dividend has been increased for stockholders. As the company's business in high-performance automobile bearings and hydraulic machines for mini-shovels or compact excavators has been in good demand, the dividend was increased in proportion to the profit.

- NACHI-FUJIKOSHI strengthens precision machine tool business by expanding ultra-precision machinery products. They began marketing the finishing tool ASP01A for the aspheric surface market, dramatically shortening the processing time and the AMG62P, for liquid crystal light guide plates. As sales of new generation DVD players and other audiovisual products accelerated, the company has enjoyed increased orders from IT-related companies. Their sales target in the precision business is nine billion yen for 2008, 1.5 times current sales.

The newly released three series include "GS MILL Slot,", "GS MILL Heavy" and " GS MILL Radius" guaranteeing highly efficient and high quality performance of even the most-difficult machining processes.
