Nachi-Fujikoshi Launches
High-capacity Ball Screw Support Bearing - TAF-X Series

1. Our company’s initiatives

We have developed and marketed high-functionality bearings, including ball screw support bearings, TAF series, highly unique thin-walled bearings, and spherical bearings in the field of industrial machines.

Now Nachi-Fujikoshi adds the TAF-X series, which has a higher load capacity, in order to strengthen the TAF series lineup of bearings for industrial machines, responding to industrial machines with higher levels of performance.

2. Outline of TAF-X series

(1) Market needs
 As industrial machines have increasingly higher levels of performance, the need for bearings with higher capacity and speed has been increasing. In line with increased electric drive systems, the demand for ball screw support bearings with longer life, smaller size, and higher speed have been increasing, particularly for bearings for injection mold machines.

(2) Features

1. Longer life
 With increased contact angle between the steel ball and the raceway as well as the maximization of the steel ball, the load rating in the axial direction*1 has improved. About a 1.5 times longer life has been achieved, compared with conventional ball screw support bearings.

2. Smaller size
 With the optimized design of the raceway, the permissible thrust load*2 has been improved by about 10%, compared with conventional ball screw support bearings. By reducing the combination of thrust bearing, etc., which was necessary in the assembly of a machine, the area of the peripheral part of the bearing can be minimized.

3. Higher speed
 With the optimization of the raceway and preloading, the torque has been improved by about 15%, compared with conventional ball screw support bearings. As a result, limiting speed has been improved by about 25% and also the higher speed requirements have been met.

*1 Axial direction: Parallel to the axis of rotation of the bearing. The load in this direction is known as the axial load.

*2 Permissible thrust load: In a case when axial load is applied, the contact ellipse of the steel ball and the raceway moves to the raceway shoulder, but the contact ellipse cannot move beyond the raceway shoulder for the maximum axial load.

3. Product lineup

17 sizes are available with an outside diameter ranging from Ø52 mm to Ø260 mm.
