NACHI-FUJIKOSHI and Sankyo Tateyama Aluminium formed a partnership in magnesium business

NACHI-FUJIKOSHI and Sankyo Tateyama Aluminium have combined their technologies of extruding and sheet metal rolling to jointly develop wide and thin coils of magnesium alloy that had been difficult with conventional methods. With this innovation, it is now possible to change the magnesium-component forming method using a more sophisticated steel rolling process instead of the conventional mainstream die-casting method. The companies now want to extend application of magnesium alloy in areas including electric, electronics and IT industries as well as to automobile and industrial machines.

In efforts to expand the application of magnesium alloy and to add more value, they will jointly work to develop welding and surface processing technologies while cultivating markets mainly for extruded products, wide sheet coil and press-formed finished pieces.

Taking advantage of their locations having major operations in Toyama Prefecture, NACHI-FUJIKOSHI and Sankyo Tateyama Aluminum will deepen their relationship not only through technology development but also in other areas such as production and sales.

By strengthening their partnership, they plan to expand and improve[ magnesium alloy product line-ups aiming to achieve a combined sales for both companies of 10 billion yen by 2010.
